Trifecta
b.f.a show by jordan will
artist statement
This exhibition is a physical representation of my exploration both with character design and with processing mental diagnoses. These characters attempt to physically embody the feelings expressed in my writings, originally journaling exercises from therapy. The gallery is meant to be an immersive experience. Fog machine will run at 10am and 2pm daily.
While this work is largely made for myself as a creative way of processing trauma and growing as an artist, I hope that others who struggle similarly can feel heard here and that those who don’t understand what it feels like to struggle with mental health can have a visual reference for what it can feel like. I believe that showing this work in its entirety, as my experience, helps to put on display what so many are too good at hiding.
To my family, friends, classmates, coworkers, and collaborators: This showcases material that may be difficult to view. You have been there for me, and I am eternally grateful for your presence in my life. You are the reason I am here today, telling my story. Thank you for your support today and always.
